Frequently Asked Questions

Welcome to our FAQs section. Here you will find answers to the questions our customer services team are often asked – simply select the question you’re interested in to reveal the answer.

I have no hot water – what should I do?

One of the most annoying things that can happen is turning on the shower only to be met with a blast of cold water. If this happens to you, there are a few things you can check before calling a professional. First, take a look at your boiler pressure. If it's low, try topping it up. If that doesn't work, check to see if the pilot light is still lit. If it's not, relight it following the instructions in your boiler manual. Finally, if all else fails, reset your boiler. This should give you back access to hot water. However, if none of these solutions work, it's time to call a heating engineer. They'll be able to diagnose and fix the problem quickly so that you can get back to your normal routine.

Why is my boiler making noise?

Your boiler could be making a noise for a number of reasons. This could include an air or sludge related issue. We would recommend getting a Gas Safe Engineer to investigate the cause.

How can I improve the efficiency of my boiler?

If your boiler is more than five years old then you may want to check if it is a condensing boiler. If it is not a condensing boiler, then we would recommend that you consider replacing it.

Which boiler has the greatest efficiency?

When purchasing a new boiler look out for the energy performance certificate (EPC). All modern appliances have to be tested and will be given a certificate, the most efficient grading you can get it A. A, B and C are all good efficiency.

Why is my boiler leaking water?

There are a number of reasons why your boiler could be leaking water and there are also a number of places that the leak could be coming from. The pipework underneath the boiler could have a leak, or it could be something inside the boiler itself. Some of the most common reasons for a boiler to start leaking water are clogged drains, a pressure relief valve that has become blocked, or problems with the circulator pump. If your boiler is leaking water, it's important to get it fixed as soon as possible to prevent further damage. Call us on 0208 722 7072 and one of our Gas Safe registered expert engineers will be happy to visit your property and help.
